Hello guys. Welcome to Light UK Podcasts. Welcome, welcome. We hope you are doing well. And yeah, we're excited for this next episode, aren't we, darling? Yes, part two of Who is Jesus? Who is Jesus? And so, yeah, we're going to be carrying on from in a sense our last episode. If you haven't listened to our last episode, we would probably encourage you to recommend it because it will help you make a bit more sense of and follow this episode along a bit more. Easily, but at the same time, if you haven't, it's no issue either, to be honest. Yeah, absolutely. And so, yeah, we're gonna be talking about who is Jesus.

Jesus is the source of life

So we were gonna talk about how Jesus is the source of life, darling. Jesus is a source of life, he's the source of why we exist. Um, Colossians 1, 15 to 17 says that he's the image of the invisible God, you know, and that he's a firstborn of all creation, that in him all things were created in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones and dominions or rulers and authorities, all things were created for him. That means you and me were created for him. That means, you know, when babies are born, God had them in mind, you know. It means that we can enjoy plants and animals and food and art and all these different things. Some of you have like a desire to look after animals or to do to be an artist or to do music. You didn't get that desire by yourself. God is the creator of all things, you know, and he's wonderful. And it just for me, it just even makes me realize wow, that is an amazing way. That how supreme, and it just kind of gives it elevates my vision of Jesus that he's got that authority, and it's just wonderful, you know.

So yeah, sorry, I think there's some beautiful parts to this scripture, and I actually even love in verse 17 it says he is before all things and in him all things. All things hold together, and so it shows that God, in this sense, is create holding the whole world together, you know, he's keeping it together, he's got it in his hands, if that makes sense. And so, my question to you, to even a bit more of on a practical level, darling, is if God is holding the world, whole world together, how does God help you to hold your world together in a sense? And what does that look like a little bit? Does that make sense?

Overcoming temptation through truth

It does make sense, you know. Actually, it's a very this scripture is what God used or showed me to help me get out of um some temptations that I was dealing with a f a few years ago. Knowing that Jesus is God and that he's good, and that he came to save me from my sins. He came, he came so that I don't have to submit to sin, you know, I don't have to be controlled by it. That is what made me think, hold on. And and then knowing that I was created for him, therefore, he created me with the intention to know him and not to sin is actually that is what helped me to walk out of that temptation. A lot of people say, Well, I can't help it, I can't help it. Do you know whose you belong to? Do you know the one that holds all things together? When you really think about it and you go back to the beginning, that God is good and that he is God and that he is pure and holy, then you realize that he didn't create us to sin, and that's why Jesus came to save us from our sins and that we have dominion over sins, and therefore that is what helped me. That scripture is what helped me to handle temptation and to say no to temptation and then to keep walking with Jesus. So it's so powerful. That's how practically I I applied it to my life.

So, what I see from that is it's thinking through how to, in a sense, apply that meditate to your life, meditate on that word, read it, get it into your get it into your spirit in a sense. Yeah, and so, but even what I see from that is I know you spoke about temptations and sin, and that's the beautiful part of having a relationship with Jesus, isn't it? That is sometimes we do, let's be honest, no matter how good we try and be, don't we? We do make mistakes, we do get things wrong, you know. We, you know, I could say I'm gonna try not to, I'm gonna try and be the best husband I ever could be, but there will be some times where I maybe snap at you, or maybe I've don't follow through on what I've said I'm gonna do. Yeah, or you know, I get things wrong. That's the reality. We're human at the end of the day, but you know, Jesus, he's the perfect one, isn't he? He never sinned, he never did anything wrong. And so we can trust him, and so we can trust him, but also when we do mess up, yeah, he's such a graceful God, isn't he? Yes, he's so graceful, he's so merciful. And as we say, God, I'm sorry, you know, I've messed up again, help me to, you know, not do that and help me to follow you. God helps us to turn from our sin, he helps us to change, doesn't he? And he helps us to become more and more.

Because there

Jesus can break every stronghold

are people that, and that because the enemy, the devil, does can make people think you're never gonna get out of this. You cannot get out of this sin. Um, you're trapped by it, you're controlled by it, and some people are, but that's why we're here to talk to you and say, hey, Jesus is the source of life, and there's no temptation, there's no sin that he cannot pull you out of. All right, you know, maybe sin is gonna pull people off. There's no mistake, there's no um challenge, there's no addiction or or mental stronghold or mental health issue that Jesus cannot go in and overpower and give you the strength to walk out of it free to be healed to for your minds to be renewed. So we're here to just exalt Jesus, um, to put him to not to put him because we can't put him anywhere, but to acknowledge his rightful place in our lives. Jesus, you are the source of my life. That means that I I'm not perfect, but with your whole with your Holy Spirit and with your power, I can hopefully overcome this thing. And that's how not that sometimes is how we can be practical, isn't it, darling?

Jesus is the light of the world

yeah. So and that actually takes us on to our next point, lovely. It says, you know, Jesus is the light of the world. John 8, verse 12. It says, I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. I love the scripture. I mean, I know my wife really loves the scripture, and in a sense, this is what our ministry is kind of based upon, in a sense. That's why we're called Light UK. Light UK is because we you know, let's be honest, the world is so dark out there, isn't it, darling? There's so much pain and suffering and wars, and oh, you know, you only have to look at the news for two minutes and you, you know, you can see it. But yet Jesus says, I am the light of the world, and so this ministry is we want to point people to Jesus because the reality is he is the light of the world, he is the answer to every single problem, and maybe a lot of you know sometimes people might not understand that, but the reality is is we were made to have Jesus, made to have we were made to walk with Jesus, and you know, I love even Psalm 119, verse 105 says, Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path. Yeah, and so what is that saying? Well, he's a lamp, yeah. You know, he's the light to guide us.

Yeah, that means without him, we cannot see. I realize that without without Jesus, I am walking blindly, I don't know where I'm stumbling, I don't know where I'm going. I need him to guide the way. Isn't that it's a bit scary?

Giving your burdens to God

and actually, even as you're saying that, darling, I'm reminded of times where you know when maybe we've been trying to work when I've tried to work stuff out in my own strength, you know what I mean? Or I've tried to do stuff in my own strength, and I've sometimes got stressed, or sometimes I've got you know anxious or angry or whatever it is, or you know, unsettled, and I've sometimes gone around in circles, but then I sometimes get to a point where I remember I need to give this to God, and I'll take it to him and I'll give it to him and I'll release it to him, and then suddenly it's like a weight's lifted off me again, you know. I feel the stress leaves, and because I know that I don't necessarily have the answer to that problem there and then in that moment, but I know that God's in control, you know what I mean? He's got me, he's he's faithful, he's a good, good God, and that I can trust him, and that yeah, he cares about my these these issues, yeah, he's a God of the details, he's a God of the intimacy, you know what I mean? And so that's the beautiful part is we have to learn to give it to God and release it to him. And it says his word, he is a word, a lamp to guide us and a light on that path. I think that's beautiful, isn't it?

It's great, and it's make in in in practically in our daily lives, my goodness, that's with me and you, you know, that's with my work. Um, I was um just dealing with something at work, and I really felt like the Lord was like, you just have to stop, and actually just just stopping and and and and following the Holy Spirit and just focusing on the word has has made me less

Jesus is the bread of life

Upt about this situation at my in my job. Do you know what I mean? And so we we sometimes almost think God is a last resort, but he isn't, he's the first resort, and he is light and um and he wants to bring that light into that situation, and it also reminds me again that he's the bread of life. You know, back in the old back in the old testament, when I was a youth pastor, no, no, let me rephrase that. When I was a youth pastor, I taught on Jesus being the bread of life or one of the sections, and I remember when I was doing my research, I found out that in the old testament, bread for them is where they've got a lot of their nutrients. It's where it's something that they ate quite often, you know, it was affordable, you can make it quite easily. And so when Jesus used that phrase, I am the bread of life, it was a deliberate thing that he used, meaning I am the one that you need to eat, drink, and you know, I'm the one that you need, I'm the one that satisfies you. And that's why, like in the Bible, he says that I'm the bread of life. If you come to me, you will never be hungry. If you come to me, you will never be thirsty. That means that drugs can't satisfy us. You know, even each other, we love each other, but we can't satisfy each other fully, you know. Only Jesus can satisfy us because there's a God-shaped whole in all of us that only God can fill. And so, even the idea that Jesus is a bread of life, Danny, imagine your most the like what's your favorite bread? Like French bread, right? Or baguette that is nice and warm. Tiger bread, tiger bread. I love tiger bread with with night with butter, and you know, and so God is saying, I'm the one that you need, eat of me, um, come to me, I'm everything that you need. And that's just for me, that's wonderful. And I have to remind myself of that every day.

Yeah, and I actually even think it goes deeper than that, and I think that you know, deeper than what you said about Jesus using this analogy of bread is even in the old testament, yeah. When you think about when God took the Israelites out of Egypt, and it says He sustained them by giving them manna, manna came down from heaven, and in a sense, manna is a type of bread, isn't it? Basically, and so you know, God sustained them with bread from heaven, but now that was the old covenant, Jesus has come and he said, I am the new covenant, in a sense, and I am the bread of life. He's basically saying, Eat from me, come to me, build your life on me, drink from me, and you will never be thirsty or never be hungry. Yeah, and that's talking about not physically, in a sense, a physical way, but spiritually, yeah, he will give us the nourishment and look after us. And actually, even physically, I would say, when we truly follow Jesus and thingy, he will provide for us, because it doesn't it? It says, seek me. Uh what does it say? Um seek first the kingdom of God. Seek first the kingdom of God, and everything else will be added. And so as we seek first the kingdom of God, as we seek him above everything else, well, he will provide for us, basically, doesn't it? That's what that scripture's saying, and this is what the promises of God are saying.

You can have as much of Jesus as you want

I love it, I love it, and I think it's it's it's one of the scriptures that really stood out to me that I can I can uh Stephanie Gretzinger says something. She said, We can all have as much of Jesus as we want. As much of Jesus as you want, you can have him, you know. Um, his presence, his heart, his love, his voice, um, and his direction. So yeah, that leaves us to the next one, darling. Jesus as a grapevine.

Yeah,

Jesus is the true vine

these are and so as you've you can see that we're doing almost statements of who Jesus is. The I am statements of it. And so he says, I am the bread of life, I am yeah, Jesus is the light of the world. The next one that we want to talk to you about is Jesus is the grapevine. And in John 15, verse 1, uh no, John 15, 5 and 6, it says, I am the vine, yeah, and you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit. But apart from me, you can do nothing. If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers. Such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire, and burn. And I think there's so much to this scripture. Yeah. When you think about it, like if you remain in me and I in you, so that's showing us that we're made to remain in Jesus. We're not made just to say the prayer or not just made to say, Jesus, you know, I believe in you, but then I'm gonna carry on doing what I want or living for myself. But we're made to remain in him, remain remained for that daily fellowship, aren't we? We're made to spend time with him. Well it tells us, doesn't it? Go into your room, shut the door when you pray. You know what I mean? And that's in a sense, go into the secret place and spend time with me. Yeah. On a daily basis, we would see that in Jesus' ministry, wouldn't we? He'd get up early before everyone else and go into the mountains or into the wilderness to pray, wouldn't it?

Why remaining in Jesus matters

he would. And and it just shows you how much we need him. Like the fact that he describes himself himself as the grapevine, it means that I need him. I can't survive without him. I might be doing well physically, but eventually I'll feel dry, you know, as a Christian if I don't um build myself up in prayer with him, have that intimate relationship with him, go on prayer walks with him, you know, have time away, you know. In fact, me and you have been thinking about maybe having some time alone with the Lord, just as ourselves away, maybe, you know, but all those things, all that, all that is remaining in him, knowing him, remaining him. And I think it's just so wonderful for us to keep that momentum, especially as Christians, you know, you can get so busy with church and ministries and family and you know, that before you know it, it's been for some people, it could be like a days or weeks before they haven't maybe properly had a they've had a time with the Lord on the go, but you can't sustain that. You still need to have that time with him. So just to encourage all of us, especially as ministers, as people who are in ministry, Jesus is our first ministry, then our families, and then everything else follows, including ministry.

What does the secret place look like?

So, yeah, and um to sum that up, I would say what does it look like, darling, for ye for you, just in a practical sense of how can we what does it look like for you to go into your secret place? Oh my gosh, it just I don't I don't obviously you don't have to spend too long, but just a brief version of what it looks like for you in the secret place, just to encourage people.

Do you know the secret place for me is when I stop, whether it's in the morning and I wake up and I go into my room or whether I'm at work, the secret place is it's it's wherever you are, you stop and you enter in and you focus on Jesus and you give him your attention. Because I know some people want me to say it's when I wake up in the morning and I go into my bedroom and I shut the door, yes, but actually we can't I can't sometimes you don't you can't wait until you get home to do that, but when you enter in and you focus you shut the world off, you close your eyes or you go somewhere quietly and you say, Jesus, I just want to say I love you, I love you, you're so good, I need you.

Finding God in the middle of busy life

I actually think that's a I didn't expect that answer to be fair. I thought you were gonna maybe more go more go into a practical sense of going into the room, into your bed your you know the spare bedroom or whatever. But actually, I love that answer because in a sense you're saying that even in the in the midst of the busyness of life, whether you're at work or whatever, you can experience Jesus, you can fellowship with him. And I read I actually remember you saying once, didn't you, when you used to work in an office, a busy office building, that you would go to the toilet sometimes. I would I hope you don't mind me saying that I don't mind, no, and you would literally like spend five minutes in the toilet, and I would have encounters with him.

Encountering God at work and in everyday moments

I would have encounters with him. You know, you know, babe, this is such a good question because many people wonder, oh, how come those people are where they are now? And for me, I always come back to Lord, if I didn't um, Lord, I've I've been able to get to where I am now in my life because of those quiet moments where I acknowledged you and you led me. And I let's say in that because I think in the office, let's say there's a there's um something bad going on or they're gossiping, or I'm just having um challenges. I would just go to the toilet and I'll lock my door and I had my phone and I'll pull out a scripture and I'll be like, Your your word is a lamp onto my feet and a light onto my path, and I would meditate and I said, Lord, I need you, help me. I love you, Jesus. And he would fill me with his presence. He would fill me with his presence. Sometimes I'll I will use my lunch break 30 minutes a day, and I'll go for a walk talking to him. All of that is you're depositing into your relationship with the Lord. Me and you, we spend time together. We go on dates, you know, we spend time together in the evening with restrictions.
